Reconciliation

Reconciliation at St. Ignatius of Loyola

At St. Ignatius, we recognize Sacramental Preparation as a meaningful and grace-filled milestone in a child’s faith journey. Our program welcomes baptized Catholic children in second grade or older who have completed at least one full year of faith formation and are ready to deepen their relationship with God. Rooted in the guidance of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the Archdiocese of Baltimore, our preparation begins with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through this sacred experience, children come to know God’s mercy, understand the power of forgiveness, and strengthen their spiritual foundation. It is a privilege for us to support families throughout this sacred season of growth and discovery.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation

Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a significant step in a child’s spiritual growth. This sacrament provides an opportunity for children to experience God’s mercy and forgiveness, strengthening their relationship with Christ and the Church.

As part of this preparation, all children must complete the required instruction and spiritual formation necessary to understand and appreciate the importance of this sacrament. Through guided lessons, prayer, and reflection, children will learn about God’s love, the meaning of sin, and the grace of forgiveness.
